Heritage Home Group, Red Star Macalline to open Thomasville stores in China

On April 23, Red Star Macalline (RSM) and Heritage Home Group (HHG) will sign an agreement that will result in the opening of more than 100 Thomasville & Co. stores in major cities across China over the next few years.

The newly created store concept will incorporate all three brands — Thomasville, Drexel and Henredon — providing a unique and diverse offering of classic, contemporary and luxury American furniture to Chinese consumers. RSM will also manage the distribution of the three brands in China outside its shopping mall network and expand on HHG’s current dealer base in the country.

RSM is a leading home improvement and furnishings shopping mall operator in China. It provides the operation and management of both Portfolio Shopping Malls and Managed Shopping Malls. In addition, RSM is involved in O2O platform business, bulk procurement, sale of pre-paid cards, Internet finance, home design and decoration, as well as logistics and delivery services.

As a major furniture store chain, RSM operates more than 200 furniture shopping malls with more than 11 million square meters operating in 135 cities, municipalities and regions in China.

“We are extremely pleased and honored to partner with RSM for the expansion of Thomasville, Drexel and Henredon in China,” said Pierre de Villemejane, president and CEO of HHG. “With their impressive growth and development across the country, RSM has proven their ability to create shopping malls that have become destinations for the affluent across China. We believe that our three historic brands will offer aspirational American design to the Chinese market and are in perfect alignment with the needs and desires of RSM’s target consumers.”

Red Star Macalline CEO Jason Zhu added, “We are so excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with these three historic brands. Thomasville, Drexel and Henredon vividly represent the comprehensive American lifestyle from country side to urban life with price ranges from middle class to high-end luxury.

“More importantly,” Zhu said, “we are happy to find an international furniture Company like HHG who has a long-term perspective, cares about branding establishment as well as market cultivation.”

The first China Thomasville and Co. stores will be open this spring and summer in Nanjing, Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu.
