THE DESIGNERS
Yabu et Pushelberg : « We design places and products : immersive environments, compelling
destinations. George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg founded their studio in 1980, with an accent on
interior decoration.
With offices in New York and Toronto and a team of more than one hundred creatives and professionals,
we design buildings, interiors, landscapes, lighting systems, furniture, objects and graphics with a focus
which goes well beyond what things look like, to how they make people feel. We are always looking
to the future and incessantly seek new innovations, trying to create the memorable experiences of
tomorrow. With an accessible, collaborative way of designing and resolving problems, we believe it is
important to dream and to overcome obstacles in order to arrive at new solutions.
We bring the same attention to detail to each project, from tabletop objects to the new materials, and
we actively look for partners who share our passion for doing better than what was done before. For us,
it’s all about designing the world we want to live in.
CONCEPT & DESCRIPTION
A creative product, very sensual to the eye and to the behind. Offering perfect comfort, the Pukka
collection is a little marvel of design, which finds its roots in the great C&B period when Gaetano Pesce
presented his UP50 collection in 1969. The latter had created a collection which paid homage to the
sponge. He affirmed that he was fascinated by a sponge in his shower which always sprang back into its
original shape.
Yabu & Pushelberg thus take up this theme, adding a feminine design, soft and organic, which fills the
space with sensual comfort.
The new collaboration with Yabu et Pushelberg brings together their great design quality with our
manufacturing expertise. The detail of the stitching, the use of ultra-flexible foams and the tension of
the lines obliged us to strive for a perfect piece of upholstery. This was only made possible by the very
stretchiest of our fabrics: Arte, Maxi, Gentle, Moby and Appa. In particular, the new Gentle fabric,
which is a plain, 100% wool stretch velvet, clothes it perfectly.
Construction – Foams of various densities and a base of high resilience polyurethane foam (48 kg/m3 –
7.1 kPa).
