Editor's Note: The Show Goes On

As Fort Lauderdale Boat Show steadily approaches, the eyes of the industry can't help but be fixed firmly on the newly released vessels announced for the Florida show. Fittingly with the shifting season comes new charter grounds, a fleet of newly sold spectacles and exciting insights in the calendar of events to come...

FLIBS First Look was our first hand insight into the stand-out vessels set to take the stage at the upcoming show. From the stunning M/Y Utopia IV by Rossinavi to the dare-to-be-different Elysian by Abeking & Rasmussen, the show opens up a whole new world of possibility for owner's and industry members.

As we eagerly anticipate what will be another successful year for FLIBS, elsewhere in the industry, the brokerage world booms. Take the sale of 60-metre M/Y St. David with West Nautical, boasting Baroque styling and Italian Riviera resonance throughout, which come together to reate a lavish atmosphere on board. Floating staircase spanning three decks? Check. Skylight that peeks into the bottom of the sun-deck pool? Check. There's almost nothing this brilliant Benetti doesn't have.

Additionally, there was Perini Navi USA's 70-metre Sybaris which sailed into success having been sold alongside Edmiston in what has been described as "The best yacht brokering job I’ve ever seen in my 35 years in the business" by Bruce Brakenhoff Jr., President of Perini Navi USA.

Commemorating the sale of M/Y Mine Games by Galati Yachts, we carried out our weekly Interior Insight into the classic splendour of her sumptuous space. Across 62-metres she is a striking extravaganza of old world European finery with whispers of chic Italian modernity.

As talk turns to the Winter Season, so do our charter itineraries. Where better to kick off our white sand winter day dreams than a glimpse into the ultimate South East Asia charter spots, featuring Thailand's breathtaking Phucket and Burma's hedonistic Myanmar.

In the spirit of emerging destinations, it seems no surprised the once up-and-coming and now truly 'arrived' Montenegro, invites a new crowd to it's epicentre. Porto Montenegro is set to host the RC44 Regatta in 2019, bringing with it a flurry of superyachts with it.

Aside from emerging destinations, and an exciting calendar across sailing and superyachting, there was one emerging designer we couldn't help but thrust in the spotlight. Our Q&A with concept creator, Gabriele Teruzzi on 150-metre 'Shaddai' (a project named after God) illustrated a "unique and provocative" vision, designed to be emotionally appealing.

Having now been revealed to the public, the revised 67m explorer project by VSY and Hot Lab Yacht Design also caught our eye. With the superyacht industry now arguably more diverse than ever before, we explore how the project's ability to strike a balance between a 'modern vessel' that still remains 'faithful to the original explorer yacht concept', is in itself a cause for applause.

As we eagerly await the upcoming Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, we continue to deliver the latest news to you. Stay tuned on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more!
