Editor’s Note: Launch Teasers Increase the Pace for 2018

With Palma heating up following the close of the successful MYBA Show in Barcelona, the industry is travelling to showcases across the world once again; joining the global charter fleet and circles of adventurous owners looking for the best spots to enjoy the burgeoning heat of Spring while the year gathers momentum.

The events in Palma, Barcelona and the upcoming showcases of the year are already adding character to the simmering 2018, and with the facilities and yards of the industry hard at work to continue the growth of the global fleet and advance centuries of hard work, 2018 is looking exciting.

This week, while team enjoyed the culture of Istanbul while learning first-hand about the latest projects underway at Turquoise Yachts (more on that next week), we’ve been split between exciting post-production phases on new projects and delivering the latest updates from across the water.

Feadship’s order book is, as always, brimming with exciting projects and new construction revolutions; however, the dedicated refit division stepped into the spotlight this week after completing significant winter works on the 97-metre Faith. As this remarkable vessel left the yard, the 78-metre Utopia entered, bringing a new era to the ultra-luxury charter yacht.

This return to form in terms of refit was also joined by a number of successful launches this week, from the racing magnate that was christened Nahiti at Wally, to the latest Benetti superyacht Ironman and Rossinavi’s teaser surrounding Flying Dagger.

A brand new launch list, the Italian yachting community has brought forward sleek and stylish sailing yachts, progressions of Benetti classics and a super-futuristic cruiser from Rossinavi.

This was joined today by Heesen’s announcement surrounding the launch and christening of Omaha, the latest in a long line of successful launches for the Dutch shipyard.

While the details are scarce surrounding the latest launches of the week, the year is still young and we look forward to bringing you more on the world of cutting-edge construction across the coming week, combined with a dedicated week of charter insights.
