The famed 53.6 metre explorer yacht Itasca, listed for sale by Alex Busher at Edmiston & Company, has had a further $3,000,000 price reduction.

Built in steel by Dutch yard J & K Smit, she was delivered in 1961 as one of four similar oceangoing salvage tugs and is the only survivor. This yacht for sale was converted into a superyacht in 1973 and now offers all the modern conveniences and comforts you would expect.

Accommodation is for ten guests in five cabins consisting of a master suite on the sun deck with a private terrace, three doubles and a twin, all with en-suite bathroom facilities.

Since her conversion, Itasca has circumnavigated the world three times, has made four trips to Antarctica, and was one of the first yachts to pass through the North West Passage, travelling from West to East. In 2014 she journeyed to within 570 nautical miles of the North Pole. Thoroughly well maintained, Itasca is fully Lloyd's class and MCA charter compliant, although she has only been enjoyed privately. Her hull is structurally reinforced and equipped to Lloyd's highest standards for her encounters with polar ice.

A major highlight is her helicopter pad, complete with refuelling system, which gives guests access to some of the remotest places on the planet. Other features include a gym and sauna while twin 1,520hp MAN engines give her an enormous range of 13,000 nautical miles.

  Itasca is now asking $13,950,000.
