The new Columbus Crossover 40 project, designed by Sergio Cutolo – Hydro Tec stems from the need of housing large tenders up to 8 metres long and 2.5 tonnes in weight on compact yachts, which becomes the centre of all holiday activities. The displacement hull has bulbous bow and flat, flared aft sections and is in steel with light alloy superstructure. The exterior lines are modern, with a prevalence of stretched and angled surfaces and with a higher distribution of volume in the forward area than typically found on Crossovers, so as to make room for the tender. The interior, by Francesco Guida, are modern and inspired by the theme of exploration. The yacht is equipped with a retractable crane which, installed on the upper deck aft, will allow to handle the tender, which is usually towed. The stern area features a swimming pool with automatic sliding cover; the bulwarks are completely foldable and they create a huge beach club. The sun deck is intended for social life and includes a sunbathing area, a relaxation area with a sofa and in the middle, covered by the hard-top, we find the outdoor dining/ cocktail area, with a large bar at starboard and a dining table on the port side. The hard-top houses a characteristic “crow’s nest” from which you can enjoy a 360 degree view. The deck saloon and the sky lounge, have been designed to be respectively the main saloon and the formal lunch/ dinner area. In particular, the upper deck dining room spreads to full width and opens to the side, creating a cantilevered loggia over the sea.The bow area houses the master suite, which the four guest cabins are positioned below deck, in the central section of the hull. A tunnel in the double bottom connects the engine room to the crew area, as well as providing room for the main lines of the plants to pass through and for the equipment and fuel tanks to be inspected. The Crossover 40 is powered by two Caterpillar C 32 of 970 kW each allowing it to run at a maximum speed of over 14.5 knots. Fuelled by tanks of 60m³ approximate capacity, at economic speed this boat will reach a 4,000 mile range. Two watermakers producing about 8.6m³/ day will feed the 10m³ total capacity of the freshwater tanks.Last but not least, the superyacht has two pairs of stabilizers ensuring optimal performance at anchor or underway.
JFA Yachts is ready to launch a new, amazing motor-powered catamaran. Presented a few days ago, the Long Island 86 Power is the latest addition to the Long Island range, which already includes the 85 Sailing and 78 Power. As the French builder points out, these are the only catamarans to have an aluminium hull and a composite deck.Long Island 86 Power features generous dimensions and proportions with accommodation of up to 8 guests in four cabins. Bearing the signature of Marc Lombard, the design is exquisite, with great roominess and brightness aboard, combined with an extraordinary cruising experience resulting from excellent performance, reliability and quality of materials, in line with the top-of-the-range standards to which JFA Yachts has accustomed us. Interior design, on the other hand, is by Darnet Design. These highlights alone would be enough to make the Long Island 86 Power a new object of desire without a second thought, but the elements of interest do not end there. The new catamaran from JFA Yachts is in fact available with both conventional and hybrid propulsion – the latter being particularly silent compared to market standards – and features an extremely spacious navigation deck, for which honourable mention must go to the Marc Lombard Design Group. With the helm conveniently sheltered but without compromising visibility, and with the large shaded outdoor lounge area, the navigation deck is in fact the real strength of the Long Island 86 Power, allowing both privacy and spectacular sea views when cruising. What’s more, the excellent additional structure already available on the Long Island 78 can be added as an option, which allows the helm station to be closed off and to have solar panels able to provide electricity when the yacht is at anchor, in order to reduce the use of the generator. The comfort and luxury of the Long Island 86 Power are complemented by a fabulous hot tub located forward and accessed from the interior lounge area for intimate moments of relaxation, an aft platform that can easily be converted into an additional sunbathing and diving area and four light-filled cabins. In short, as Marc Lombard emphasizes in his comments on this latest luxury catamaran from his studio, “the Long Island 86 Power is a simple, efficient, refined craft that is perfect for cruising”.
Construction of the Wedgeline Hybrid 77, Fabiani Yacht’s revolutionary craft that is set to become the first zero environmental impact superyacht, started a few days ago in Pisa. Equipped with long retractable solar panels, the Wedgeline Hybrid 77 will allow silent, zero-cost and non-polluting cruising, which will also allow it to enter protected marine areas, usually forbidden to motor boats.“The first model will be ready by 2023 and will change the yachting world forever,” says Maurizio Fabiani, far-sighted designer of the Wedgeline Hybrid 77. “There are many beautiful boats in the world, but none currently have a level of technological innovation comparable to ours.”The highlights of the Wedgeline Hybrid 77 are not limited to the solar-powered power supply, but also concern the meticulous design and extraordinary hydrodynamics of the boat: “The hull width of this 77-footer will be the same as the 100-footer model,” explains Mr. Fabiani, “which means it will have unrivalled stability compared to other boats of the same length on the market, which usually have narrower hulls”.In addition, continues the engineer, “we have worked hard to obtain the lowest possible inclination of the propeller shaft, in order to make the best use of the energy produced to push the boat in the navigation direction, rather than downwards as happens with the shafts of other boats, which tend to look towards the bottom of the sea”.In addition to the Wedgeline Hybrid 77, Fabiani Yacht has also designed the 101 model, whose construction will begin shortly and will be completed in 2023. The bigger sister will have no less than six cabins compared to the four of the 77 model, including a panoramic one in the bow, and above all a helm station located on the flybridge, a real living space with sofas and air conditioning. With the Wedgeline Hybrid 101, Fabiani Yacht has carried out a cruise simulation from Livorno to Corsica in order to demonstrate the total absence of emissions and costs even on long cruises: “Thanks to the substantial battery pack,” Mr. Fabiani explains, “it will be possible to travel at 8 knots starting from Livorno and stopping for a dip on the island of Capraia before reaching Corsica, from where we can leave the following morning for Elba, to spend a second night before returning to Livorno. With the Wedgeline Hybrid 101 it will be possible to tackle this three-day, two-night voyage exclusively using electric motors powered by solar panels, so in total silence while cruising and, above all, at zero cost and without impacting on the environment”.The real gem of the Wedgeline Hybrid 101 is the patented platform, which runs on special rails and can be submerged a metre underwater or raised to flybridge level, from where it is possible to dive directly into the sea or create a parapet with ropes and stanchions in just a few moments, for a breathtaking view of the sea.
