Christian Leyk has a long collaboration with Ken Freivokh, the designer of the Maltese Falcon. During this time, Christian also had the pleasure to work on the concept of Black Pearl. It’s therefore only natural that we do occasionally draw up new concepts around this amazing rig.

Christian newest concept Crystal features a very different styling approach which results in very varied and usable outdoor areas, but in essence you’d still find all the amenities that are hard to find on the big sailing vessel. The vessel is fitted with a three-mast DynaRig sailing system that appeared on Perini Navi’s Maltese Falcon and Oceanco’s Black Pearl and is very easy and quick to use.

As a sailing yacht she has the same performance and sustainability credentials as her bigger sister, including that fact that she’ll be able to cross the Atlantic Ocean without using any fuel.

For the interior, well known designer Alexandre Thiriat has been invited to the project. Crystal can accommodate 12 guests on board, including a full beam owner’s stateroom with folding balconies, a spacious beach club with gym, space for tenders and toys, a welcoming swimming pool, and generous lounge space.

Some emphasis was put on the interaction between inside and outside spaces, letting natural light in when it’s needed and giving the shadow when necessary.

Christian Leyk established the philosophy of coquine design. In the second semester of studying industrial design in Munich, when he decided to keep the logo / logotype he developed for a fictional boutique (specialized on lingerie) for his future design studio. Since then he has worked for a few renowned yacht design offices, such as Evan Marshall (London, United Kingdom), newcruise Yacht Projects & Design (Hamburg, Palma de Mallorca), Ken Freivokh Design (Hampshire, United Kingdom) and most recently Marc Newson (London, United Kingdom) and applied his creativity to practically everything from yachts to cars, graphic design, architecture, film, photography and cooking.
