Tankoa delivers fifth 50m S501 model named Grey

The fifth hull in Tankoa's 50-metre all-aluminium S501 series has been revealed for the first time following delivery to her owner last month. Named Grey, she joins her sisterships Kinda and Olokun on the water.

Grey was started on speculation and sold to a European owner in September 2021 with TWW Yachts appointed to project manage the build. According to the shipyard, she is "substantially different" from her sisterships, and her layout was heavily customised to meet the requirements of a "young European owner". 

She retains the same exterior profile as her sisterships, devised by long-term Tankoa collaborator Francesco Paszkowski, but one key departure is the foredeck, which features a larger-than-usual swimming pool and an outdoor cinema screen that pops up from the deck with integrated speakers.

She is also the first in the series not to feature an interior by Paszkowski, instead opting for the stylings of Giorgio Cassetta, who makes use of rich woods and veined marbles throughout. The interior benefits from enlarged windows on the main deck, glass bulwarks and fold-out balconies to create a connection between inside and out.

Accommodation is for 12 guests in six cabins, two of which are suites and positioned on the main deck with further provision for a crew of nine. The main saloon is features a central lounge space with velvet armchairs in marine blue and an L-shaped sofa that acts as a natural divider between the lounge and a formal dining area. Pale blue soft furnishings are used to contracts deep glossy wood overhead. 

On deck, there are four areas to entertain guests. The bow lounge is a favoured spot on board and is complemented by a shaded al fresco dining area, accessed via side decks leading aft. The main deck, meanwhile, offers a fan of sunpads that hug the transom and then the star of the show is the sun deck with a Jacuzzi and an agate bar. A top-of-the-range sound system, designed by the award-winning French/British brand Focal & Naim, is fitted throughout. 

“Our usual flexibility in satisfying customer requests is evident in the customisations made on board GREY—such as the installation of a swimming pool in the bow, and the fantastic never-seen-before cinema/sound system. The jet black and whisper grey paint gives a sleek look to Grey,” said Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa sales and marketing manager.

Powered by conventional diesel engines, she can reach a top speed of 18 knots.
