The first hull in the Mazu 92 DS series has been launched in Yalova, Turkey. The 28.45-metre motor yacht Waterlily is Mazu Yachts first foray into steel construction and is the smaller sister of the Mazu Yachts Displacement Series.
Waterlily features interior and exterior design by Red Yacht Design, with naval architecture by Alfa Marine Design. She is also the first in a new series of semi-displacement yachts, which will be followed by a 112 DS and 132 DS model.
Waterlily is characterised by a raised pilothouse forward, vertical bow and two-tone hull design. She features a beam of 6.7-metres and a shallow draft 1.9-metres and is constructed from carbon composite to reduce weight and keep the centre of gravity as low as possible.
The Mazu 92 DS yacht can sleep up to eight guests across a full-beam owner’s suite located on the main deck forward, two single staterooms forward and a full-beam VIP. She is adorned with a neutral colour palette, complemented by light wood parquet flooring and occasional splashes of turquoise blue.
Waterlily boasts a large swim platform, with space to stow a tender or Jet Ski while underway. When moored or at anchor, this platform can be extended thanks to fold-down bulwarks. As well as this, her glass sliding transom doors lead into a beach club area, complete with a bar.
Other key features include an alfresco dining area for up to eight guests on the aft deck, a backlit exterior staircase connecting the main deck, upper deck and beach club, and an asymmetric lounge with an L-shaped sofa to port and armchairs to starboard.
In terms of propulsion, Waterlily is powered by triple IPS 1050 Volvo engines with a top speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots. The first model will make her world debut at both the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Yacht Show 2023.
Waterlily has already completed her first sea trials and successfully passed the acceleration and top speed tests, reaching 18 knots at full speed and a cruising speed of 13 Knots at 1,500 RPM.
According to SYT iQ, Mazu Yachts currently has another two Mazu 92 DS yachts in-build, with expected delivery dates of 2024 and 2025.
