The 27-metre Oyster sailing yacht Karibu has been sold with Alastair Shove of Carrswood Yachts representing the seller and Jeremy Comport of Ocean Independence introducing the new owner.

Karibu was built in GRP by Oyster Yachts to a design by Rob Humphreys and launched in 2013 as the second hull in the shipyard's Oyster 885 flagship series. She changed hands in 2021 and the then-owner had the yacht entirely refitted and re-launched in May 2022.

Refit work was valued at over €2 million and included new sails, a new 4.8-metre jet tender, new EC6 carbon rigging, a revamp of the interior and IT/AV systems and a striking new hull colour.

Karibu provides accommodation for eight guests in four en suite guest cabins and is MCA compliant for owners wishing to offer her for charter. British studio Design Unlimited was brought in to breathe new life into the yacht's interior by introducing pops of bright blue, to match the new hull colour, and lively, tropical prints throughout.

The master cabin on board this sailing yacht for sale is positioned aft and is filled with natural light thanks to Oyster's signature "triple seascape" windows, while a raised main saloon benefits from wraparound windows offering views of the surrounding environment. A U-shaped sofa sits to starboard with expandable coffee tables on a rise-and-fall mechanism that allows the space to double as an interior dining area. Bespoke timber furniture was fitted during the interior overhaul as well as a new bar with a wine fridge, ice maker and glass cabinetry.

One of her many features is a split cockpit – perfect for al fresco dining and relaxation underway – and her spacious, open deck areas, extended by a large hydraulic bathing platform to give easy access to the water for swimming and boarding the tender. The main tender is stored in a well on the foredeck which, with the tender in the water, becomes a recessed lounge area complete with a brightly coloured sunpad and cushions.

Karibu is a single-masted sailing yacht with a Hall Spars high modulus carbon mast, which was serviced and overhauled during the refit, new Future Fibres ECSix Carbon standard rigging, and a furling boom. In 2022, she welcomed a new fully battened mainsail, furling genoa and storm sail by Evolution Sails to accompany her A2 and A3 asymmetric spinnakers.

Under power, a single Cummins Turbo-charged QSL9-330 diesel engine delivers 8.5 knots cruising speed. All of her engine room components, including the main engine, generators, air conditioning, water maker and hydraulics, were serviced during the refit.
