The latest unit in Horizon's 33.9-metre FD110 Tri-deck series has been delivered to her owners. Christened Crowned Eagle, the "intimate" ceremony was held on the Intercoastal Waterway in Florida.
According to the shipyard, the owners were instrumental in bringing the tri-deck design to the FD series with their previous yacht, the FD92 (formerly Crowned Eagle, now Freedom). They have since opted for the FD110 because of the model's increased volume, which is able to accommodate "more friends and family on their Caribbean travels".
Accommodation is across a five cabin layout, including an on-deck master suite that benefits from a nearly full-beam, his-and-hers en suite with central shower, alongside a set of walk-in closets. In a "special touch" created by the yard for the owners, the guest accommodation branches from a wide hallway highlighted by a backlit feather etching in the aft bulkhead. There are additional quarters for a crew of six.
The main saloon is outfitted in light oak with walnut accents and features a formal dining table with a sunburst inlay, situated amidships, alongside a dayhead and comfortable seating area. The series' characteristic floor-to-ceiling windows are also prominent throughout. Attached to the main saloon via sliding glass doors is an on-deck wet bar, round dining table for ten and built in, U-shaped seating. An etched Hi/Lo partition separates the large galley from the guest space.
The owners' favourite part of Crowned Eagle, however, is the crew quarters. Positioned forward on the lower deck (instead of the traditional aft location), it encompasses a large mess and three en suite cabins – one double and two bunk. A private crew staircase direcly accesses the galley above, while a companionway leads to the guest accommodations foyer for ease of service. The owners also specificed a large laundry and storage room for the lower deck guest area, providing a laundry service akin to those found aboard yachts over 45 metres.
Per the owners' request, the shipyard fitted the bridge deck with an asymmetrical enclosed skylounge. The area can be opened up to the aft deck, which features a dinette as well as a bar with fixed stools. When the aft tender is deployed, the additional space offered can be used for lounging or entertainment.
Stairs from the bridge deck lead to the upper deck (the "piece de resistance", according to Horizon), arranged with settees, a bar area and sunpads. The foredeck is another noteworthy communal area, shaded with sun awnings and featuring sunpads, a Jacuzzi and built-in dinettes.
Shortly after delivery, the owners embarked on Crowned Eagle's maiden voyage to the Florida Keys after which they returned to The Bahamas – one of their favourite cruising areas.
