The innovative Austrian shipyard Silent Yachts has unveiled two hulls of its latest solar electric catamaran model, the Silent 62. This cutting-edge vessel introduces a brand-new drivetrain, described by Founder and CEO Michael Köhler as their "most efficient, silent, and high-tech drivetrain to date," promising extended range and higher top speeds.

The state-of-the-art drivetrain, adhering to automotive standards, offers enhanced efficiency and silence while providing owners and guests the capability to explore the world at accelerated speeds.

Applicable to all Silent models, this next-generation drivetrain incorporates an upgraded battery with higher energy density and greater capacity. The result is faster charging rates, thanks to optimized thermal management for the cells. The water-cooled battery boasts an extended lifespan of over 3,500 recharge cycles, certified by DNV-GL and Lloyd's Register. With a watertight IP65 rating and a self-contained monitoring and extinguishing system, safety on board reaches paramount levels.

Featuring electric motors with an impressive efficiency rating of around 96%, this new drivetrain utilizes the latest Synchronous Reluctance assisted Permanent Magnet (SRPM) technology. Enclosed in a robust IP65 enclosure for maximum reliability, these compact motors set a new benchmark for efficiency in the market.

The innovative drivetrain also integrates full carbon propellers designed like submarine propellers. This groundbreaking design eliminates vibrations and noise, ensuring unparalleled efficiency and silent cruising on the water. Michael Köhler emphasized, "The carbon propellers ensure the ultimate on-water relaxation for owners and guests while boosting the efficiency rating to a level which is unprecedented for yachts."

Special Features of the Silent 62:

Meeting Rooms Version: One of the Silent 62 catamarans boasts a unique layout designed for business events on board. The front master cabin on the main deck has been transformed into a fully equipped meeting room, featuring a large table and seating for up to ten people. The room retains an en suite bathroom, and the meeting table can be converted into a large bed. Additionally, a second smaller meeting room in the starboard hull accommodates up to six people, while the salon houses the third and largest meeting room.

These exceptional features, coupled with a custom audio system from Martin Audio with 32 speakers and an enlarged hydraulic stern platform for two electric jet skis, make this yacht a standout offering. The Silent 62 is available for charter and will be berthed in Florida.

Silent-Yachts is producing the world’s first fully solar-sustainable oceangoing production catamaran yachts. They are powered exclusively by solar energy and capable of cruising up to 100 miles per day. In 2009, founders Heike and Michael Köhler, who have spent 6,000 days cruising more than 75,000 miles all around the world, launched the Solarwave 46, the first fully self-sufficient blue-water catamaran after years of testing solar-powered propulsion, and they have been building boats ever since.
