Italian shipyard Wally has unveiled its new entry-level wallywhy100 model at an exclusive Ferretti Group pre-Chirstmas event held in Venice, making its debut along the canals of the city.
Stefano de Vivo, Wally’s managing director called the launch in Venice a “fitting location,” describing it as “a place where the canals run like veins carrying the lifeblood of the city, just like the saltwater that runs in the veins of everyone at Wally.”
Measuring 21.5 metres, the wallywhy100 is masterminded by the same team as the wallwhy150 and wallwhy200 and borrows the same design language as its big sisters. Exterior design is by Wally, working in collaboration with the Ferretti Group Engineering team, while Studio A. Vallicelli & C has headed up the interiors.
The new model aims to fill a gap in the market for a traditionally stylish coupé with the added benefit of volume and comfort, according to de Vivo. He predicted that “20 years from now, the industry will look at the wallywhy100 as a yacht that dared to be different.”
The yacht’s design centres around the main deck, which stretches from bow to stern and can be fully closed off or left open for guests to use in all weather conditions. Luca Bassani, Wally’s founder and chief designer said: "The closed cockpit is pushed far forward to provide space for inside/outside living which gives thewallywhy100 an eye-catching, sleek but still aggressive look."
An alternative fresco living spot can be found on the foredeck, where there is a multi-use lounge with an elevated table that can be raised or lowered to form a seating area or sunpad zone.
At the stern, there is a 14 square metre beach club area with unfolding bulwarks that increase the available space by 50 per cent. The beach area is home to a swim ladder for easy access to the water, as well as a hydraulic platform that can launch and retrieve tenders up to 3.6 metres in length.
Six guests can be accommodated across three cabins, and in a departure from the style of the larger models, the master cabin is located aft. It features smart glass that can be fully transparent or completely opaque depending on its use.
On the same deck, there is a port side VIP cabin and a twin on the starboard, both with dedicated en suites and large windows. There is further accommodation for crew, which can be accessed via the main deck and lower deck without crossing the guest spaces.
For propulsion, Wally has opted for a twin D13 Volvo IPS configuration with cruising speeds of 24 knots and top speeds of more than 27 knots in the upgraded IPS1350 specs.
Bassani said: “Thanks to its innovative design, the wallywhy100 is a ‘jack of all trades’. It is a spectacular day or weekend boat for those who want to use it as a support vessel for their larger yacht, but at the same time, its ample cabins, generous crew quarter and relaxation areas, as well as garage and toy storage capacity make it the perfect vacation home away from land.”
He added: “The wallywhy100 is a boat for owners who understand their own needs and aren’t afraid to break the mould.”
De Vivo concluded: "Like its siblings, the wallywhy100 will be a game-changer in many different markets due to its compelling value proposition and infinite usage cases for a wide demographic."
