Heesen announces the delivery of its first yacht for 2024 – YN 20255, now bestowed with the name Iris Blue. This elegant vessel marks the debut of the restyled 55-meter series, featuring a host of enhancements that redefine luxury and performance on the seas.
Leading the charge in the transformation of the exterior lines is Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, the original designer of this series. The evolution is apparent in the enlarged floor-to-ceiling glass panels in the main saloon, creating a seamless connection with the surrounding seascape. The absence of mullions enhances the panoramic views, while continuous sheets of tinted glass contribute to a subtly aggressive yet elegant profile. The horizontal lines extend the visual length, striking a harmonious balance.
The owner's quarters receive a revolutionary upgrade with the addition of a veranda on the starboard side. This transformative innovation extends the living space, offering the unique privilege of private access to an outdoor area, redefining the luxury experience in the 78 square meter stateroom. The introduction of new walk-in wardrobes further elevates the onboard opulence.
Built on the ultra-efficient Steel Fast Displacement Hull Form, Iris Blue boasts a transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots, making her not only a paragon of luxury but also a vessel of practicality. With a maximum speed of 15.5 knots, this yacht ensures swift and comfortable journeys across the seas.
The redesigned layout includes a more expansive sundeck, complete with a bar around the whirlpool forward, offering an ideal setting for relaxation and entertainment. The central atrium on the main deck has been modernized, featuring a wider and revised main staircase, while an additional companionway from the wheelhouse deck to the sun deck enhances crew access.
Iris Blue underwent rigorous sea trials in the challenging conditions of the North Sea, demonstrating exceptional responsiveness and stability. With waves reaching up to 1.7 meters and winds gusting up to 28 knots, the yacht showcased its prowess in adverse weather conditions, instilling confidence in the captain and crew.
Niels Vaessen, Heesen CEO, remarks: "Heesen 55-meter Steel is a unique and very competitive design. We believe in this proven design platform and have worked with Omega and Luca Dini on creating a yacht that meets the refined tastes of clients who appreciate Dutch quality with a shortened delivery time. Iris Blue is a wonderful addition to our fleet, and we wish the Owners and her crew many days of happy sailing."
