Columbus Yachts, a brand of Palumbo Superyachts, has laid the keel of the first unit in its 37-metre Atlantique series. The 37-metre yacht is currently being built at Palumbo's shipyard in Savona with delivery scheduled for 2025.
The European buyer was introduced to the shipyard by Assia and Salvatore Mele of Mele Yacht.
With a silhouette that "recalls the sailing yachts of other times", the Atlantique 37's clean, slightly sporty exterior is owed to Milanese studio Hot Lab. Naval engineering was completed in-house.
Accommodation is across four double cabins and a main deck owner's cabin with bathtub, shower and walk-in closet. While full details have yet to be disclosed, interior renderings reveal an airy, contemporary aesthetic with floor-to-ceiling windows, marble feature walls and angular, low-profile furniture.
The 330GT yacht is fitted with two dining areas – one on the external main deck and the other on the upper – which can accommodate up to 10 people. A "peculiarity" pointed out by the shipyard is the upper deck's rounded windows, which, with an up-down and lateral movement, can be closed or opened to circulate a sea breeze.
On deck highlights include a beach club with lateral-folding bulwarks, a Jacuzzi and main deck sofa seating with far-flung views off the stern. The Atlantique 37 also benefits from two garages. The first is located on the starboard side and houses a 4.5-metre tender, while the second 3.3-metre tender and rescue boat are stowed in the bow hangar.
CEO Giuseppe Palumbo said: "Enrico Lumini, the creative soul of the Hot Lab studio, has designed a line that is undoubtedly destined to become a best seller for the Columbus brand. Having already 10 boats between 30 and 80 metres under construction in Ancona, we have decided to intensify the activity of our Savona shipyard which, thanks to its long history, qualified workforce and infrastructure, has all it takes to be a centre of excellence on the Mediterranean Sea."
With a semi-planing hull and two 2000hp MAN engines, the Atlantique 37 is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 19 knots.
