The chief engineer on board 62.5-metre Baton Rouge has died in hospital following an incident on board the yacht while it was docked in Antigua. Mainstream media reports the cause of death as electrocution and the deceased has been identified by friends as 47-year-old British national Roy Temme.
The incident occurred on 23 February and the crew member was pronounced dead at 10.19am local time after receiving urgent medical attention.
Burgess, the yacht's management firm has released a statement confirming that the "next of kin has been notified and we are working with the authorities to ascertain further details".
The statement went on; "Burgess is providing guidance and counsel to the crew onboard Baton Rouge and we ask at this time that you respect their privacy. Our deepest thoughts go out to family, friends and colleagues".
A friend of the deceased has set up a crowdfunding page for Temme's family. Liam Dobbin, a recruiter in the superyacht sector, said: "He is a man with a heart of gold and is sorely missed by many family, friends and crew who have met and worked with him. He leaves a wife and two children."
An investigation is pending.
