We already know the Wally WHY200 is spacious—the 89-foot yacht has an interior the size of a larger 165-foot superyacht—but now we can confirm it is stylish, too.

The newest example, which will be on display at the Singapore Yachting Festival later this week, features elegant living quarters designed by Loro Piana Interiors. A second unit, set to arrive in Asia in the coming months, will also showcase interiors by the Italian fashion house.

The 89-foot model is the flagship of the Monaco yard’s WHY range. WHY stands for Wally Hybrid Yacht, with “hybrid” indicating the vessel is a mix between a planing motor yacht and displacement boat rather than the fact it is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system. On the contrary, the WHY200 is powered by four Volvo Penta D-13 IPS 1350 engines capable of producing 1,000 hp each. She can cruise at 20 knots or hit 23 at full tilt while maintaining a horizontal position and sense of smoothness, which Wally says is unique among fast semi-displacement yachts.

As mentioned, the WHY200 offers the comfort and space of a larger vessel. A wide beam of 25 feet and a high profile ensure a generous interior volume of 200 GT. The main salon is the same width as that of a 160-footer, for instance. The unit in Singapore is the first to feature the “main deck entertainment” layout, which was designed specifically for the Asia Pacific (APAC) market. Her tall 15-foot glazed bow houses a spectacular living area with a large round table, a bar, a wine cellar, and sweeping panoramic views.

A one-piece laminated carbon staircase connects the main deck to the lower and upper decks. On the upper deck, Wally’s signature glass and carbon fiber dome is fitted with a plush lounge for relaxation. The extended, structural top has no supporting pillars to ensure the vistas are uninterrupted. The lower deck on this particular WHY200 is dedicated to guests, with a luxe owner’s cabin at the bow and two swanky guest cabins.

In terms of decor, Loro Piana opted for a light, neutral palette with accents of ginger and sand to create freshness. The house, which is adept at working with vicuña wool and cashmere, also incorporated many rich materials throughout. The main living is adorned with a made-to-measure sofa, Ginza armchairs, and a Merino rug, while the upper deck lounge is decorated with jacquard textiles and a large round dehors rug. In addition, the cabins are also decked out with bespoke cashmere blankets, printed cushions, and accessories.

The exterior decks are replete with Loro Piana’s chic custom furniture and technical outdoor fabrics, which are resistant to salt, sunlight, and wind. The beach club, for example, features the Delight chairs Loro Piana designed with Exteta. The beach club is also fitted with fold-out terraces and two “invisible” garages for tenders and toys.

The first WHY200 and a wallypower58 will be on display Singapore Yachting Festival from April 25 to 28. Concurrently, another wallypower58 hull will be on show at the Palma International Boat Show in Spain from April 25 to 28.
