Azimut Yachts is diving into the world’s first electric powerboat league.

The prestigious Italian shipyard, which started delivering luxury yachts in the 1960s, has joined forces with Team Miami for the UIM E1 World Championship. The inaugural season is already well underway, with races in Saudi Arabia, Italy, and Spain complete. Azimut has come aboard with three remaining races left to bolster Team Miami.

“The brand’s purpose of ‘dare to amaze’ pervades Azimut’s activities, and we believe that today, more than ever, the challenge is to combine a passion for performance, innovation, and glamorous technology with a commitment to sustainability,” Jad Zakkak Migliorini, Azimut head of sales Europe and marketing director, said in a statement. “E1 does this in the greatest possible way, and we are thrilled to be Team Miami’s partner.”

For the unversed, E1 holds races in upscale destinations across the globe to help promote sustainability and innovation in the marine industry. Each thrilling faceoff sees futuristic, electric foilers, known as RaceBirds, fly across the water at up to 57 mph. Pilots go head-to-head in multiple heats to advance to the final. The current championship includes nine teams with two pilots each. The teams are helmed by big-name celebrities, such as NFL legend Tom Brady, actor Will Smith, tennis superstar Rafael Nadal, DJ Steve Aoki, Formula 1 driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez, and soccer great Didier Drogba.

Team Miami, which is helmed by Latin music icon Marc Anthony and food entrepreneur Robert Jakobi, recently secured a victory in Spain and is currently leading the championship. Still, the team saw an opportunity to push the boundaries of green technology and marine design even further with Azimut.

“With Azimut Yachts, we are not just elevating our brand presence globally; we are also emphasizing our commitment to sustainability,” explained Jakobi. “It reflects our vision for a greener future in marine sports and luxury yachting.”

Fans of Team Miami and Azimut can look forward to exclusive events and experiences, showcasing the best of electric powerboat racing and marine craftsmanship.

As for the E1 championship, the next race will take place in Monaco at the end of the week. The electric powerboats carve through the iconic marina, with qualifying taking place on July 27 and the final race scheduled for 4 p.m. CET on July 28. Let’s see if Team Miami can score another win.
