The 31.7-meter motor yacht Illusions has partially sunk while moored near the former Romeo Packing plant in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. The incident occurred on the night of August 11th, with local navy personnel from the Ninth Naval Region being the first to respond.
The situation was first reported on the evening of August 10th, when the yacht began taking on water. By Sunday morning, Illusions had partially sunk. The Department of Marine Environmental Protection and the Port Authority of Isla Mujeres responded the following morning, on August 12th.
Originally delivered in 1991, Illusions was designed by Antonio Maggini, both inside and out. The yacht is one of Versilcraft's Super Challenger models and underwent its most recent refit in 2008.
