Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) has delivered the second unit in its Flexplorer 146 series, named Mat. The 44.5-meter explorer yacht has left CDM’s facility in Ancona and is currently docked in Santa Margherita Ligure, a commune on the Italian Riviera. This delivery follows the launch of her sistership Maverick earlier this year.

Distinct from her sisterships, Mat does not feature an A-frame on the aft deck, a customization made at the request of her owner. Instead, this area has been transformed into a large social space, equipped with sunbeds, fold-down bulwarks, and a jib crane concealed within the sundeck overhang. Additionally, Mat has one less deck compared to her sisterships, along with subtle profile changes and a customized interior layout.

The sale of Mat, known during construction as Flexplorer 146-35, was announced in November 2021. The yacht was commissioned by a Swiss owner with a passion for big game fishing.

The exterior design of Mat was crafted by Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec, while the interior design was handled by Nauta Design, a long-time collaborator with CDM. The interior features a natural palette, with bleached wood cabinetry, light linens, and loose furniture. The main and upper saloons boast an asymmetric layout, enhancing the yacht's contemporary feel.

"We are very happy with Mat, the sixth successful collaboration between Cantiere delle Marche and Nauta,” said Mario Pedol, founder of Nauta Design. He emphasized the spacious and well-balanced interiors, noting the large windows in guest areas that create a strong connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The use of light within the interior design brings a dynamic element to the clean and natural tones of the yacht's decor.

Mat can accommodate up to 10 guests and nine crew members within her 475GT volume. She is powered by twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines, which enable a range of over 5,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 10 knots. The yacht's low-resistance underbody and bulbous bow contribute to enhanced comfort in rough seas and improved efficiency during long passages.

CdM's story begins in 2010. The facilities cover an overall surface of 16˙000 square meters, including 7˙000 sq. m of workshops and 1˙000 sq. m of docks. Since 2015, the shipyard has been the world’s leading builder of explorer yachts. Based in Ancona, Cantiere delle Marche builds yachts from 26m to 43m in length.
