Turkish yard Ares Yachts has announced a new 54-metre explorer yacht concept named Atlas.
Designed to remain under the 500GT threshold, Atlas boasts a "genuine go-anywhere capability" with options for hybrid propulsion and solar panels to reduce its environmental impact.
The yacht’s exterior lines were developed by Italian design studio Hot Lab and are combined with naval architecture from Van Oossanen, including a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). Atlas is characterised by a suite of sharp, angular lines, with a high bow capable of handling tough sea conditions.
"We have always believed that each project should bring with it some small inventions: this is what we call 'incremental innovation'" explained Antonio Romano, business director and co-founder of Hot Lab and commercial director of the Viken Group. "What is missing in an explorer yacht of around 50 metres? That was the principle behind Atlas."
The standout feature is the mezzanine structure at the bow, providing the owner’s cabin with uninterrupted views. Other features include four guest suites with direct access to the beach club, a private foredeck and a spa pool. The engine room is positioned forward to increase the available space for guests and crew.
Atlas would also provide storage for tenders and toys and an optional touch-and-go helipad.
The concept would be able to offer a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots, with a range of nearly 5,000 nautical miles.
According to BOATPro, Ares Yachts has one yacht currently under construction, the 62-metre Simena. The sailing yacht is the shipyard's flagship and is scheduled for delivery in March 2025.
