Edvin H Design has unveiled an "eco-conscious", 80-metre concept known as Awakening. The superyacht has been designed with solar panels concealed as retractable awnings and an aft swim platform capable of harnessing wave energy from the ocean.
The green theme continues on the owner's deck, which would feature a semi-enclosed workspace with tablets powered by "discreet solar panels", and the foredeck which has been dubbed by the designer as "Solar City".
This hidden relaxation area converts into a solar panel array that in turn powers the entertainment system, including a deck-integrated projector and television screen.
The main deck is dedicated to "gourmet enthusiasts" with its Teppanyaki kitchen, again powered by solar energy. Materials such as glass-laminated copper, natural stone and stainless steel would be used in this space. Up top, a fully integrated wellness area would be found on the sundeck, including four solar-powered baths and whirlpools and a central sauna.
hasAdventure-loving owners will appreciate the lower deck, which houses a variety of toys including electric mountain bikes, single-person solar-electric tenders and water scooters. The tenders can enter the superyacht via side hatches, designed to stabilise movement during docking. These hatches would also feature a retractable swim-in platform, simplifying re-entry after a swim.
There has been a surge of eco-conscious concepts as of late, including a recent Rossinavi entry named Solsea. The yacht would be capable of cruising in full-electric mode for 80 per cent of a transatlantic crossing and features a pool cover that doubles as shade and a solar surface.
