An SPD device (surge protection device) prevents electrical equipment failures caused by lightning and transverse surges.
These devices, in accordance with IEC 61643-11, are intended for low voltage (BT) circuits.
They are classified and certified Type 2 (T2) and are typically installed upstream to the differential switch in the main switchboards in the high-frequency lightning strike zones, in special PVC boxes with protection rating IP 67, as required by the reference standard.
