    Philips and Ericsson cooperate on telcointegrated street lighting infrastructure. With cocreated Philips lightpole site we provide mobile broadband connectivity through smart street lighting.The pilots, Los Angeles and San Jose have taken a major step in creating a connected smart city.

     

    Smart poles not only serve as an important connected light source which can be remotely managed, they house technology to improve mobile network performance across the city.

     

    The poles can be installed with minimal interruption to normal city activity, such as car and pedestrian traffic, and because they are a 2 in 1 solution – a connected device that also provides necessary light without taking up extra space – smart poles have been called the digital real estate for the Internet of Things.

    Samsung to Close its Mobile Phone Plant in China

    Samsung Electronics announced that it will close its smartphone manufacturing plants in Tianjin, China, due to the declining sales of its smartphone in the Chinese market.According to the report of Reuters, the operation of Samsung’s smartphone manufacturing in the Tianjin plant will stop by the end of year. But the company will continue the production in Huizhou.

    OLED is More Competitive in Smartphone Market, Mini LED Should Target at Niche Market, Says TrendForce

    The sales of iPhone X turned out to be less than market expectation, so Samsung has lowered the utilization rate of OLED production lines. The tight supply of OLED panels over the past two years has also been eased. According to WitsView, a division of TrendForce, Apple has initiated the trend of OLED panels, and it is estimated that the penetration rate of OLED panel in smartphones will reach 46% by 2021.     Samsung SDS and Telensa Partner for Smart City Infrastructure and Data Solutions

    Samsung SDS, the digital arm of Samsung, and Telensa, a leader in smart street lighting and smart city data, announced their partnership for smart city projects. The two companies are collaborating on smart street lighting and the Urban Data Project, a cloud platform that creates a trust infrastructure for urban data which enables cities to collect, protect and use their data for the benefit of all citizens. The first collaboration will be in city projects in Korea, with wider deployments following across Asia Pacific and in the United States.

    Telensa to Provide Smart Street Lighting Infrastructure for UK City

    Telensa, expert in smart street lighting and smart city applications, announced that it has been selected by the council of Sandwell in UK to provide a smart street lighting solution as part of the region’s 2030 Vision Initiative. The Council plans to install nearly 4,000 lights by 2020, with the intention to increase this to over 11,000 by 2022, which will be wirelessly connected and managed using Telensa’s PLANet system. The Council is also converting all their streetlights to LED as part of the upgrade. PLANet will give the Council control over lighting levels, allowing them to remotely tailor for each location, in addition to energy and maintenance cost savings.
