    Eaton Settles Patent Infringement Lawsuit with Two LED Lighting Companies

    LED Lighting Eaton Lighting Patent Infringement Lawsuit

    Eaton announced that it has reached a settlement in the patent infringement lawsuit it filed against Cordelia Lighting and Jimway. The settlement ends a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia filed in 2016. As part of the settlement, Cordelia and Jimway will receive a license to the Eaton patents asserted in the District Court case.

    Seoul Semiconductor filed a patent infringement lawsuit for infringement of its LED driver patents against SATCO Products (SATCO). Seoul Semiconductor claimed that SATCO is selling various LED lighting products that infringe 11 patents of Seoul Semiconductor’s LED driver technology, including U.S. Patent 7,081,722, U.S. Patent 9,807,828; U.S. Patent 8,513,899; and U.S. Patent 8,716,946.

    Finish light control solutions provider Casambi has made changes to its senior management team. Kari Mettälä now serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a move instigated by Founder Timo Pakkala, Casambi’s former CEO, who continues with the company in a product management role.

    Super Lighting Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit against LED Lighting Company MaxLite

    Jiaxing Super Lighting Electric Appliance(“Super Lighting”), together with its affiliate Obert, the North American division of Super Lighting, filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Central District of California against MaxLite. Super Lighting and Obert accused MaxLite of infringing Super Lighting’s patents, including U.S. Patent Nos. 9,689,536; 9,841,174; 9,723,662; 10,208,897; 9,807,826; and 9,897,265, with its LED tube products.

    GE , Current Lighting Solution and Consumer Lighting File Patent Lawsuit against Cree

    General Electric (GE), Current Lighting Solution and Consumer Lighting have accused Cree of using a technology on Cree’s LED product which infringes the patent of GE’s TriGain LED technology. The three companies filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Cree on April 11, 2019.

    Nitride Filed Patent Infringement Lawsuit against Digi-Key and RayVio in Tokyo

    On July 12, 2018 (Japan time), Nitride Semiconductor Co., Ltd. ("Nitride") filed a patent infringement lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court against Digi-Key Corporation d/b/a Digi-Key Electronics ("Digi-Key"), which sells UV-LED products on the internet that are manufactured by RayVio Corporation ("RayVio"), a CA-based UV-LED manufacturer, and RayVio. In the complaint, Nitride is seeking injunction(including destruction of infringing products) and damages, asserting that Digi-Key and RayVio infringe Nitride’s patent (JP 3,285,341, “Method for Manufacturing Gallium Nitride Compound Semiconductor”) by manufacturing and selling the UV-LED products.

    Nichia filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Feit Electric (Feit), a US-based manufacturer and distributor of LED lighting products on January 13, 2020, in California.
