    Alabama family wins ‘The Great Christmas Light Fight’

    An Etowah County family won the grand prize in Monday night’s early episode of “The Great Christmas Light Fight."

     

    The Gilleys of Ballplay won the $50,000 prize for the Christmas light display outside the family home, which regularly attracts thousands of visitors each holiday season. The show also spotlighted elaborate displays in California, Colorado and Arizona.

     

    The show, now in its sixth season, described the Alabama attraction as a “legacy-carrying mechanical display gone wild, including a moving elephant, alligator, dinosaur and more.” The lights have been shining since the mid-1980s, with several distinctive handmade touches added each year.

     

    An Etowah County family won the grand prize in Monday night’s early episode of “The Great Christmas Light Fight."
