    The largest NB-IoT smart street light project in China was successfully delivered in Suzhou

    Recently, the NB-IoT intelligent single lamp control construction project was completed in Wujiang District, Suzhou City, and the district-level lighting information platform was built to realize online real-time control and convenient management. At present, Wujiang District Road Lighting has become the largest low-energy WAN smart street light network in China. The project has been included in the “Eco-Civilization Major Project” by the National Development and Reform Commission and is widely used nationwide.

The Council plans to install nearly 4,000 lights by 2020, with the intention to increase this to over 11,000 by 2022, which will be wirelessly connected and managed using Telensa’s PLANet system. The Council is also converting all their streetlights to LED as part of the upgrade. PLANet will give the Council control over lighting levels, allowing them to remotely tailor for each location, in addition to energy and maintenance cost savings.

    Casambi names new CEO, founder to focus on product management

    Finish light control solutions provider Casambi has made changes to its senior management team. Kari Mettälä now serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a move instigated by Founder Timo Pakkala, Casambi’s former CEO, who continues with the company in a product management role.

    Samsung SDS, the digital arm of Samsung, and Telensa, a leader in smart street lighting and smart city data, announced their partnership for smart city projects. The two companies are collaborating on smart street lighting and the Urban Data Project, a cloud platform that creates a trust infrastructure for urban data which enables cities to collect, protect and use their data for the benefit of all citizens. The first collaboration will be in city projects in Korea, with wider deployments following across Asia Pacific and in the United States.
