    Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute Develops Mobile Device Disinfecting Solution with UVC LEDs

    Worldwide technology builders are accelerating UVC LED developments for disinfecting applications aiming to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Lately we have seen many new products and technologies debuted and here comes a new UVC LED innovation from the German research center, Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, System Technology and Image Evaluation, which is part of the Applied System Technology AST branch (IOSB-AST).

     

    Researchers built a microwave-like equipment which include two separate UVC LED modules with 10 UVC LEDs embedded respectively. Each UVC LED has a power of 100 mW, making the total UVC radiation 2W and achieving a radiation dose of 800 J / m² in just a few seconds. The amount of radiation dose can effectively inactivate bacteria and viruses.

    A global market leader of the Faucet industry, Yuhuan Dafeng Environment Egis Equipment, held a product launch event in Hangzhou, China and unveil its innovative product, UVC-Faucet. The UVC-Faucet integrates Klaran™ UVC LEDs into conventional faucet, which enables UV sterilization of water at the final point of water supply system. The product’s UVC LED would turns on simultaneously when people use water, allowing the water to be treated by UV irradiation before pouring. UVC-Faucet has passed the SGS test that it can wipe out E Coli by 99.99 percent under the condition of 1.5 liters to 2.0 liters per minute flowing rate.

    IKEA Ventures Into Smart Home Products With Trådfri Lighting Series

    IKEA has introduced smart functionality into its new Trådfri lighting range, as it takes its first major step into the Internet of Things.The range consists of bulbs, LED panels and cabinet doors that can be controlled using a remote or app. Sensors are an optional extra, allowing the lights to switch on and off automatically when someone enters or leaves a room.

The result is a collection of lamps that come as either suspension lamps, table, or hook lamps, which can be used alone or in clusters.
