Spotlights are lighting fixtures that use beam aggregation for illumination, while floodlights are lighting fixtures that use light scattering for illumination. Their principles are different, and so are their effects. For example, floodlights are often used in railway tunnels, while spotlights are used for lighting the contours of buildings, monuments and gardens. But they all play important roles in their own fields.
