Warm tones the color trends for 2019 hotel design
Pantone has named “Living Coral” as its trending color in 2019 and Sherwin-Williams has picked “Cavern Clay,” opening up new design opportunities for hotels, writes HNN’s Dana Miller.
“Living Coral” has ranges of saturation that will play well with many design palettes, said Meg Prendergast, principal at The Gettys Group, and she prefers to mix this with other neutrals or cooler tones to add balance.
“Cavern Clay” has deeper saturation, she said, which lends a “masculine, calming vibe to a blackened red-orange tone,” she said.“It conjures up mid-century metal finishes, as well as cues toward natural stone outcroppings, antique French pavers and desert sunsets,” she added. “Cavern Clay will marry well with wood and medium neutral tones and can handle saturated, complimentary accents as well.”
