Satisfy your sweet cravings by making delectable cake pops. For those wondering what cake pops are — and no, they have nothing to do with K-pop — cake pops are little mouthfuls of dessert made from cake and other pastry condiments like sprinkles or icing. These mini orbs of cake are attached to sticks, recreating a lollipop-like structure.
The cake-on-a-stick invention became a trending Search Assets sensation more than a decade ago, thanks in part to the book, "Cake Pops," by Angie Dudley. Starbucks added to that growth and the cake pops phenomena in 2010 when it began selling them in its stories. Sweet-cravers have not forgotten. Over the years, cake pops have evolved in every flavor imaginable.

How to make cake pops?
Cake pops are a great way to salvage leftover cake or stale cookies. You can also bake a fresh cake from scratch and jazz your cake pops into quality desserts that you can serve at dinner parties. The versatility of cake pops is limited only by the maker’s creativity – another reason why making cake pops can be fun.
Borrowing the recipe from Food Network, these are the required ingredients for making cake pops:
·Leftover cake or one box of yellow cake mix
·1 cup (or as needed) vanilla frosting
·20 ounces white candy melts
·Sprinkles or cookie crumbs for decoration
·Lollipop sticks
·Styrofoam blocks (optional)

Instructions:
1.Bake the cake as per the instructions on the yellow cake mix box and let it cool. Skip this step if you’re using leftover cake.
2.Break the cooled or leftover cake and put in a food processor. Add the frosting and process for 30 seconds or until the mixture forms a ball.
3.Scoop out the mixture with a spoon or a ¾-ounce scoop and run it between your hands to make small balls out of the mixture.
4.Place them on a baking sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes or until the balls are firm.
5.Meanwhile, melt the white candy in the microwave using a microwave-safe bowl or on a stovetop using a double boiler. Follow the instructions on the packaging.
6.Dip about a half inch of the lollipop stick in the melted candy and stick halfway into the cake ball. Repeat with remaining cake pops.
7.Refrigerate for a hour before dipping the cake treats in the melted candy, this time covering the entire ball.
8.Once all are covered in the candy, decorate with sprinkles or cookie crumbles while the coating is wet by making the cake pops stand upright.
9.Stick the cake pops in a styrofoam-like block and let them set completely before devouring.
What do you dip cake pops in?
A question people might have while looking at colorful cake pops is, "What are they dipped in?” It can vary depending on the cake pop, but the most common icings or glazes used for cake pops are melted candy, melted chocolate, almond bark, frosting and melted marshmallows.
Food coloring can be used in the coatings to spruce up the look of your cake pops, along with adding various types of sprinkles and other toppings.
