In 1902 in Appenzell, Switzerland, the founder Emil Ebneter created an alcoholic drink whose recipe remains in family ownership to this day. Only the ingredients are known – 42 different herbs and spices. The recipe for Appenzeller Alpenbitter has remained unchanged ever since. It is made from 100 per cent natural ingredients and contains no chemical additives. Appenzeller Alpenbitter has received a coveted special award: at the Meininger’s International Spirits Award (ISW), the Swiss speciality was named Herb Liqueur of the Year 2022. |
