On July 19, Herman Miller officially completed the acquisition of Knoll for US$1.8 billion. The acquisition was announced on April 19 and merged two of the top five contract furniture manufacturers in North America.
With the closing of the transaction, the company has a new name: MillerKnoll. The company has submitted a proposal to its shareholders to seek approval for the name change.
Herman Miller and Knoll and their original brands will continue to be independent brands as part of MillerKnoll. According to Irving, the company will adopt a new operating model to ensure strong brand ownership. Both companies are industry pioneers and are committed to design, innovation, operational excellence, sustainable development, and social welfare.
Irving stated that MillerKnoll is ready to catalyze the transformation of the industry and redefine modern design.
Irving will lead the new company as chief executive officer, while leading a management team composed of the leaders of Herman Miller and Knoll.
