Feb 26: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

  On Feb 25, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 406 new cases of confirmed infections, 439 new cases of suspected infections, and 52 deaths (all in Hubei province). 2,422 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 14,573 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 374.


  As of 24:00 on Feb 25, the National Health Commission had received 78,064 reports of confirmed cases and 2,715 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 29,745 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 45,604 confirmed cases (including 8,752 in serious condition) and 2,491 suspected cases. So far, 647,406 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 79,108 are now under medical observation.


  On Feb 25, Hubei reported 401 new cases of confirmed infections (including 370 in Wuhan), 311 new cases of suspected infections (including 242 in Wuhan), and 52 deaths (including 42 in Wuhan). 2,058 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 1,456 in Wuhan.


  As of 24:00 on Feb 25, Hubei had reported 65,187 cases of confirmed infections (including 47,441 in Wuhan) and 2,615 deaths (including 2,085 in Wuhan). In all, 20,912 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 11,793 in Wuhan. There still remained 41,660 confirmed cases (including 33,563 in Wuhan), with 8,326 in serious condition (including 7,355 in Wuhan), and 2,067 suspected cases (including 1,447 in Wuhan).


  As of 24:00 on Feb 25, 126 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong, S.A.R., China and Macau, S.A.R., China special administrative regions and Taiwan, China province: 85 in Hong Kong, S.A.R., China (2 had been dead and 18 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 10 in Macau, S.A.R., China (7 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 31 in Taiwan, China
