The 92.9-metre schooner Eos has arrived at Lürssen's refit facilities in Hamburg to be overhauled and fully serviced. Her relaunch is anticipated for April 2024.
Work will include an overhaul of all masts, booms and rigging components, an upgrade to the automation system and a new coat of paint. Her halogen lighting will also be converted to LED.
Delivered in 2006, Eos is the largest sailing yacht built by Lürssen and, at the time, was the largest sailing yacht in the world. She has since travelled over 200,000 nautical miles. Her exterior is owed to the late Bill Langan, with interior design by Francois Catroux.
“We are proud to return to the builder for this Special Survey and yard period. Planning with Lürssen over the last 18 months has been thorough, budgeting trustworthy and they offer a total commitment to the redelivery date,” explained Eos captains Shairp and Cottle.
Eos' previous refit was at Royal Huisman in 2019, which saw a major engine overhaul as well as the removal, inspection and repainting of her Rondal rigs.
