Construction group to lead Muscat Ramada hotel project

Oman-based construction company Al Rawahi International is set to lead the construction of an upcoming Ramada hotel in Oman. Al Khaleel Group's Ramada Encore Al Ghubra will be the first of the developer's two-hotel project with Wyndham Hotel Group.

The companies scheduled a 16-month construction period for the Ramada Encore as Phase 1 of the development project. The new hotel with 140 guestrooms and 24 suites will be in Al Ghubra near Muscat International Airport. The property will also be close to shopping centers and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.

Phase 2 of the project will be the construction of the 90-suite Ramada Hotel & Suites Muscat next to the Ramada Encore, sharing their leisure facilities once they are both operating.

The new hotels are slated to open at end of 2018 following the conversion of a current residential building. They follow the opening of Ramada's first hotel in Oman, Ramada Qurum Beach.

Wyndham Hotel Group will also follow up these new hotels with the opening of the Ramada Riyadh King Fahd Road in 2020 in partnership with Riyada International Hotels & Resorts and Concept Towers Real Estate. Riyada International Hotels & Resorts will manage the new 189-room Ramada. This will be the brand's 11th property in Saudi Arabia as it expands Wyndham's 12-hotel portfolio in the country. Wyndham has another six hotels in its development pipeline for the kingdom. 

The brand has close to 840 hotels in its global portfolio while Wyndham has about 8,000 properties with close to 679,100 guestrooms in 73 countries in its portfolio.
