Wyndham opens hotel in Palembang

Wyndham Hotel Group has entered the hotel market in Palembang, Indonesia with the opening of Wyndham Opi Hotel Palembang.

The 257-room Wyndham Palembang in the Jakabaring precinct is adjoined to the OPI mall next to the complex’s retail outlets, cineplex, local eateries and department store. The hotel, which is near the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport and the Jakabaring Stadium, will soon be next to the Light Rail Transit.

We are committed to providing the excellent service expected from the esteemed Wyndham brand and look forward to a successful venture ahead,” a spokesperson of the hotel’s owner Setia Bersama Anugrah said in a statement.

The hotel opening comes just ahead of the 2018 Asian Games held from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2, 2018. “The spotlight will be on Palembang during the 2018 Asian Games, and we couldn’t be more proud to showcase our latest five-star hotel to athletes, dignitaries and guests traveling for the sporting event,” David Wray, VP of acquisitions and business development, Wyndham Hotel Group, South East Asia and Pacific Rim, said in a statement.

The new hotel in Palembang will join Wyndham’s portfolio of eight hotels across Indonesia in Bali, Tangerang and Surabaya. These operate under the Ramada Encore, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Wyndham Garden and Days Inn brands. The group has more than 110 hotels in South East Asia and the Pacific Rim.

Wyndham Hotel Group agreed to manage the hotel in October 2017. The Wyndham Opi Hotel Palembang is the city’s first five-star hotel from an international chain. It follows the opening of the 190-room Wyndham Dreamland Resort Bali in December 2017 near Dreamland Beach. The hotel group also signed the Wyndham Grand Cam Ranh, the Wyndham Cam Ranh and the Wyndham Resort Tropicana Nha Trang in Vietnam last year. The Wyndham Grand opened in March 2018 while the Wyndham Cam Ranh and the Wyndham Resort Tropicana Nha Trang are scheduled to open in 2019.
