Canadian Hotel Occupancy Down 1.9 Percent to 67.5 Percent For Week Ending 27 May 2017

The Canadian hotel industry reported mixed results in the three key performance metrics during the week of 21-27 May 2017, according to data from STR.

In comparison with the week of 22-28 May 2016, the industry reported the following:

Occupancy: -1.9% to 67.5%

Average daily rate (ADR): +4.9% to CAD156.83

Revenue per available room (RevPAR): +2.9% to CAD105.91

Among the provinces, Nova Scotia recorded the only double-digit increase in occupancy (+14.5% to 71.2%) and the largest year-over-year increase in RevPAR (+24.6% to CAD102.33). ADR in the province rose 8.9% to CAD143.69.

British Columbia posted the only double-digit lift in ADR (+10.6% to CAD179.23), pushing the only other double-digit increase in RevPAR (+14.4% to CAD136.76).

Alberta reported the largest decreases in occupancy (-10.6% to 53.0%) and RevPAR (-8.8% to CAD75.00). ADR in the province grew 2.0% to CAD141.38.

Manitoba reported the biggest drop in ADR (-6.5% to CAD119.39).
