The 6th Table Setting Contest, organized by the Hotel Branch of Shanghai Tourism Industry Association and Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co., Ltd., will take place in conjunction with HOTELEX Shanghai & Expo Tableware in Hall W4 and W5 of Shanghai New International Expo Center from 29th March to 1st April, 2016. Under the theme of "Chinese and Western Table Setting Contest", the event will blend Chinese and Western feast table setting and Western buffet display in content to conform to domestic and foreign catering design.
With the association's support and guidance each year, Shanghai starred hotels are also pouring great enthusiasm into the contest. In 2015, the Table Setting Contest, with the theme "Sea's Dream", attracted 12 hotels, a 14% growth against the last edition, to participate. The exhibiting brands of tableware sector in HOTELEX are constantly rising by 10% annually and are expected to grow continuously in HOTELEX Shanghai 2016. The total area of tableware display is expected to reach 20,000 square meters. It is also expected to attract a total of 200 exhibitors. At present, 90% of its booths have been ordered.
At the event, there will be not only display of tableware and vessels but also a display of table auxiliary appliances. In terms of product materials, products are made from porcelain, glass, stainless steel, gold and silver ware, acrylic plastics, crystal, melamine, bamboo & wood and green eco-friendly materials, etc.
On the basis of original Western-style food and buffet display, the Table Setting Contest in 2016 will add Chinese feast and large banquet table setting, making participants experiencing the charm of Chinese and Western table setting comprehensively. The contest is carried out according to the standard of ten people at one round table. Apart from table setting, napkin folding and dining-table floriculture are also highlights of table setting for Chinese food. Large banquet table setting, namely Western banquet table setting is prepared for official banquets to serve important high-order people. One outstanding feature of Western-style food is using knives and forks and a variety of tableware.
In recent years, the competition in hotel and catering chain business has been rising to a competition in corporate culture and service details.
