Manila FAME trade show set for Oct. 17-20
The trade show once again will showcase furniture, home accents, gifts, holiday décor, fashion accessories, apparel and textiles and more in about 160,000 square feet at the convention center.
It combines three distinct events, including Manila FAME, which highlights furniture designs created in and outside the Manila region; CebuNext, which features manufacturers from the Cebu region of the Philippines; and Bijoux Cebu, which offers hand-crafted jewelry from in and around the Cebu region.
The Millennial Home living room was among the product on display at the March edition of Manila FAME. It includes the bamboo half-moon sofa by Budji Layug, pillows by Vito Selma and Iñigo Elizalde for Catalina Embroideries, a chair designed by Budji Layug for Pacific Traders and tabletop accessory made from abaca and copper wire by TADECO.
"Philippine craftsmanship has always sparked global interest because of the innate talents and ingenuity of our Filipino craftsmen," said Rosvi C. Gaetos, executive director of the Center for International Trade Exhibitions and Missions, which organizes the show in cooperation with the Department of Trade & Industry of the Philippines. "We intend to sustain this fascination for unparalleled design style made by Filipino hands through Manila FAME."
Show co-organizers include the Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines, The Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation and Cebu FAME, which represents manufacturers and exporters of hand-made fashion accessories.
Gaetos added that the October show will provide more product offerings and features, including Craft Spots, where visitors can see local artisans at work and offering live demonstrations of "age-old traditions and disciplines of craftsmanship."
Also, the Marketplace segment showcases products and handicrafts made with materials indigenous to the Philippines. The Marketplace concept also highlights sustainable and eco-friendly initiatives spearheaded at the local level through small and medium sized enterprises.
Other show features include Design PH, which showcases the efforts of manufacturers who are working with designers to produce quality and style-centric products, and Hibla, which features the arts and crafts of various Schools of Living Traditions and weaving centers in the country.
The event is also open to the public Oct. 19-20.
