Fabrics were among the product represented at the 32nd edition of the semiannual Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair, held in New Delhi Oct. 15-18. 

NEW DELHI — The fall 2011 edition of the Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair drew about 4,500 international buyers, roughly the same numbers as last year's event, according to show organizers.

The 32nd edition of IHFG was held Oct. 15-18 at the 800,000-square-foot India Expo Center & Mart in New Delhi.

It featured about 2,300 exhibitors, 200 of which show indoor residential furniture. The rest of these companies showed housewares, gifts, accessories, home textiles, floor coverings, jewelry, handbags and Christmas decorations.

Of the 4,500 international exhibitors, 15% were from the United States. The rest were from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, South Africa and Canada.

The event is organized by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts. Sponsored by the Indian government, the EPCH represents some 7,000 manufacturers and exporters.

Its next furniture-related event, the Indian Furniture & Accessories show, is set for April 15-18 in New Delhi. Some 350 exhibitors from India are expected to show at the event.
