    January 04,2015

(Editor: Leona)

According to "China's Economic Life Survey", released by CCTV (China Central Television), the ranking of China's happiest cities in 2014 came out.

"The China's Economic Life Survey" , sponsored by CCTV, the National Bureau of Statistics, China Post Group Corporation and National School of Development at Peking University, is China's largest national media and public survey.

The survey measured local residents of a given city on their overall sense of satisfaction, sense of belonging, life quality, natural environment, economy and social civilization.

Here are the top 10 of the cities.

No 10 Jinan

Jinan, located in Shandong, enjoys unique geographical features. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides with branches of Mount Tai to the south as its back and boasts plenty of springs and lakes in the city as well as the Yellow River in its north.

No 9 Chengdu

Chengdu is famous for its gentle pace of living. You can find everything that a big city has while enjoying the peace that only small towns can provide at the same time.

As the capital of Sichuan province, Chengdu is one of the most important economic, transportation and communication centers in Southwest China. Due to its mild climate and good air quality, the city was one of the country's top 10 livable cities in 2006 and 2007. Famed for its delicious "hot and spicy" cuisine, Chengdu became the first Asian city named as a City of Gastronomy by UNESCO in 2010.

No 8 Xinyang

Located in the most southern part of Henan province, Xinyang sits between the north foot of Dabie Mountain and the upper reaches of Huaihe River. As one of the birth places of Chinese civilization, the city embraces a history of more than 8,000 years. With a beautiful landscape and comfortable living condition, Xinyang has been on the country's list of happiest cities a few times since 2009.

No 7 Yantai

Bordered by both the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea, Yantai sits at the northeast part of Shandong province. Although located in northern China, monsoons regulate the climate and keep the area warm and humid. With a long coastline and more than 60 islets, the city is famous for its picturesque scenery and abundant seafood.

No 6 Ningbo

Lying south of the Hangzhou Bay and facing the East China Sea to the east, Ningbo is an important seaport city in the country. With a history dating back to the Hemudu culture in 4800 B.C., the city is also one of the famous historical and cultural cities in China. Containing Yuehu Lake, Siming Mountain and Hangzhou Bay Wetland in the area, Ningbo features charming scenery and a pleasant climate.

No 5 Qingdao

Qingdao, a major city in Shandong province, lies on the southern coastline of the Shandong Peninsula overlooking the Yellow Sea. Called the "Eastern Switzerland," the city is an important seaport, naval base and industrial center in China. Its beautiful coastline and a unique blend of sea and mountains also make it one of the most popular travel destinations around the country and the world.

No 4 Hangzhou

Located in the northeast area of Zhejiang province, Hangzhou is one of the most renowned travel cities in China. Dubbed the "Paradise under Heaven," the city is well known across the world for its splendid natural scenery, numerous historical relics, fine silk and Longjing tea. But what makes Hangzhou an attractive place to live is its peace, quiet and slower pace of life.

No 3 Huizhou

Located in the southeastern part of Guangdong province, Huizhou is a neighbor to Shenzhen and Hong Kong, China in the south. Settled between Dayawan Bay of the South China Sea and Luofu Mountain, the local scenic areas include a variety of mountains, rivers, sea and forests. Huizhou is headquarters to many famous Chinese enterprises, especially electronics and IT companies, including TCL, Desay Corporation and Huayang General Electronic.

No 2 Nanjing

Known as one of China's great ancient capitals, Nanjing is situated in the southwest part of Jiangsu Province. With over 6,000 years history, the city boasts countless historical relics, including the Nanjing City Wall, the Ruins of the Ming Dynasty Imperial Palace, the Confucius Temple, and the Ming tombs. Unique culture and convenient living conditions make Nanjing one of the most livable and happiest cities in China.

No 1 Harbin

Harbin is the capital of Heilongjiang province, the northeastern-most region in China. With its arctic climate and abundant ice and snow, the city is known as China's "Ice City". Since 1963, the world famous Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival has been held in January each year. During that time, exquisite ice sculptures are decorated with colorful ice lanterns, and winter sports competitions attract thousands of locals and overseas visitors.
