In May 13-18, Tianjin International Design Week 2016 was unveiled in Beining Cultural and Creative Center and Xiangsi Creative Industry Park, Tianjin, with the theme "Walking Standing Sitting and Lying Down".

The Design Week includes design competition, Tianjin forum, theme design exhibition, traditional craft show, Italian-Chinese experimental class, Kurokawa school, "Heart of Life, i-Mart", presenting the culture creativity and design service in Tianjin.

During this design week, about a hundred of guests were invited, including designers, artists and organizations from China, Italy, Japan, England, Germany, Holland, etc. The exhibitions and events attracted more than ten thousands of visitors.

"Walking Standing Sitting and Lying Down"

"Walking Standing Sitting and Lying Down" as the theme was presented by Mr. Masayuki Kurokawa, the general counsel of Tianjin International Design Week 2016. The theme reflects all symbolic forms of human life, that is, four aspects of living environment, "walking = urban life", "standing= architecture involved", "sitting= furniture life", "laying down= death/nature", which trigger thinking on the environment hence.

Designs from the East and the West come together

In this theme design exhibition, "Shine ·View", a large Outdoor Sculpture Public Art Exhibition, co-schemed by Sun Yongzeng and Wang Shugang and jointly hosted by Tianjin International Design Week and White Box Museum of Art invited ten artists with different cultural backgrounds and art languages, including Deng Guoyuan, Frederik Foert (German), Hermanus Cornelis Lamers (Dutch), Jing Xiaolei, Lu Zhengyuan, Liu Jun, Sui Jianguo, Stefan Pietryga (German), Wang Shugang and Wang Zhong. Their works were placed at a similar environment, showing ten different scenes.

Joining in Milano Exhibition, aesthetics thinking of oriental creation

In this year, three organizations of Tianjin International Design Week Committee, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, School of Design, ECNU, took part in Triennale International Exhibition Milan on behalf of Chinese party. By virtue of Chinese designers' works and projects, Chinese representative shared the design concepts and thoughts on the way of "Created in China".
