Fine Furniture Design launches Deco collection in Shanghai
    October 08,2016

Case goods and upholstery manufacturer Fine Furniture Design hosted a group of U.S. and international retailers at its flagship store and corporate headquarters here earlier this month to celebrate the launch of its new Déco collection. The event was the first time the company has launched a new collection in China before showing it in the U.S.

The clean-lined contemporary collection, which includes bedroom, dining room and occasional furniture as well as upholstery, will be launched in High Point next spring.

“Launching a major collection in Shanghai reflects the global nature of our business, with 70 Fine Furniture Design retail stores in China alone and additional key retailers in 25 countries across the globe,” said Eric Graham, president of Fine Furniture Design. “Hosting the party here was a way to celebrate our international reach while also doing something special for our China-based customers and about 20 of our U.S. dealers.”

The event took place during the 22nd China International Furniture Expo in the Pudong district of Shanghai, which ran Sept. 8-11.

“Normally our customers come to our space at the Expo to see our new products, but this year presented the perfect opportunity for us to also entertain with a special event at the store, too,” said Brian Ohlrich, president of company parent Fine Furniture (Shanghai) Limited. “Our international customers clearly prefer contemporary styling, so we wanted to give the Déco Collection a special launch.”

The black-tie event on Sept. 8 was held in a 4,400-square-foot tent outside the company’s 30,000-square foot store. In true-to-form Chinese celebratory fashion, it featured a red carpet entrance, spotlights and festive banners and a performance by traditional Chinese dancers.

As part of the event, dealers also got to tour the company’s case goods factory in Shanghai. This tour provided insight into the company’s manufacturing process as well as the vertical nature of its operation.

“We are very proud of the attention to detail that we give to each piece of furniture that we produce. Dealers were able to observe the impeccable hand workmanship involved in creating our precisely crafted products,” Graham said.
