A camera crew from the Travel Channel’s new show “Made in America” joins workers at La-Z-Boy’s plant in Siloam Springs, Ark., to tape a segment for the show. 

"Made in America" will depict host George Motz discovering how some of the most iconic domestically products are created. In the La-Z-Boy episode, Motz travels to the Siloam Springs plant to help build a recliner.

"The show highlights the quality craftsmanship that goes into building and assembling custom-made La-Z-Boy furniture," said Kevin Harmon, general manager at La-Z-Boy Arkansas in Siloam Springs. "Our Siloam Springs employees are skilled, hardworking people with a true talent for building furniture, and we think audiences will be impressed when they see us in action."

In May, Motz and a camera crew toured each section of the facility. He learned about the materials La-Z-Boy uses to build its furniture, cut large foam blocks into seats, backs and arms in the polyurethane department, helped assemble the recliner and applied the fabric cover.

"The day of filming was a crash course in furniture assembly for George," Harmon said. "It truly showcased the hard work that goes into making a custom piece of La-Z-Boy furniture."

La-Z-Boy, which features a "Made in America" seal on its furniture, has more than 5,000 employees at five U.S. plants.

The premiere episode of Travel Channel's "Made in America" will also highlight crayon maker Crayola and guitar maker Gibson.
