BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Case goods importer and manufacturer Standard Furniture has received a registered trademark for its Modern Fusion brand.
The company introduced the brand at the Las Vegas Market in January 2012 and soon after submitted a trademark application to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Officials said it received the trademark registration this April.
Modern Fusion is a contemporary bedroom, dining room, occasional, home entertainment and youth collection complemented with high-tech materials as well as trendsetting colors and finishes, the company said.
It currently has several hundred pieces spread out over 15 bedrooms, eight dining rooms, 20 occasional table groups and three youth groups. There are also six fully upholstered beds, a group of modern accent pieces and a number of dining sets that include modern bistro tables and barstools.
This January, the company also began using a 3-D Thermo Press technology to wrap case pieces in heavy mil vinyl laminates that are often used in hospitality and health care. In addition to deep surface embossing, the process also lets the collection offer a variety of high gloss finishes as well as finishes with high-relief textured grain patterns, earthy stone and brushed metallic looks.
"Modern Fusion is all about today's lifestyle preferences," said Todd Evans, Standard's president. "First we witnessed a growing style demand for clean modern lines with easy care surfaces. Then we saw an emerging need for furniture with a compact footprint as the number of people living in smaller spaces has increased. Our Modern Fusion collections are designed to fulfill both of these current and important modern lifestyle elements."
