Transparent House Uses Old Cassettes To Manufacture The Tape Lamp
    December 03,2010

Okay I admit it, when it comes to my old cassette tapes (remember those?) from the nineties, I don't know what to do with them. Shall I hold on to them for nostalgia sake or shall I throw them away since they are completely archaic in this world of the iPods and the Zunes? The creative force at Transparent House have resolved this dilemma beautifully by turning old tapes into a visually striking lamp. Part kitschy, part retro and a whole lot arty, the Tape Lamp defies all stereotypes and juxtaposes the dueling trend of minimalism with eclecticism. The lamp is completely hand-assembled in San Francisco and is entirely made of laser cut plexiglass and one hundred micro-cassettes. So if you want to experience a blast from the past in a modern context, head over to the Transparent House's website here.
