SaloneSatellite is known by the first event to focus on young designers, instantly becoming the unrivalled place for interface with manufacturers, talent scouts and the most promising young designers, and since 1998 runs again concurrently with the Salone del Mobile.Milano.
In SaloneSatellite 2018, 3 Chinese young designers have gotten respectively the first, second and third prize. Two of them were students in Beijing University of Technology, they all drew inspirations from Chinese Culture and Traditions in furniture design.

Patting Stool by Zhong Haoxuan
Patting stool comes from a traditional Chinese intellectual toy— Kongming Lock, also named Luban lock. 2000 years ago, it is said the lock was invented by
Zhuge Kongming based on the principles of the eight-diagram metaphysics.
Applying this metaphysics in chair design, everyone coule assemble patting stool without tools.
And only if you sit on, this chair could become very stable and solid.
The Third Prize
Chair "Alone" by Zhao Xiaoqi
By observing the fallen locus of leaves in autumn, based on the shape of leaves, Zhao Xiaoqi grasped the fallen leaves’features and used in chair design.
When you sit in, you will feel be surrounded by leaves.
