A furniture company is celebrating after being vindicated over its claim to offer the UK's largest range of fitted bedroom furniture.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received a single complaint challenging whether Hinckley-based Hammonds Furniture's claim to "have the largest range of fitted bedrooms in the UK to choose from" was misleading and could be substantiated.

The investigation looked at the number of hinged bedroom and sliding bedroom ranges alongside the number of finishes available from Hammonds, compared to its competitors.

It found that Hammonds Furniture had the biggest range available to its customers in the UK, offering 148 collections, compared to 134 from its nearest rival.

The advertising watchdog decided "the evidence provided showed that Hammonds Furniture offered a higher number of ranges compared to all competitors but one".

The ASA's adjudication said: "Although we noted that they had fewer hinged ranges available than one other competitor, we noted there was, nonetheless, a higher total number of available finishes across each range in Hammonds Furniture's collection and therefore understood they that offered a higher number of finishes to consumers.''

Company chairman Richard Hammonds said: "We are delighted at the outcome of the investigation by the ASA and welcome their findings. This is fantastic news, which is sure to strengthen our business and reinforce our position within the market."
