The International Furniture Fair Singapore has reported a 46% increase in preregistrations as of early February, which officials believe bodes well for the upcoming March 10-13 event.

The show reported 6,263 preregistered trade visitors the first week in February. This increase coincides with additional show features and content planned for the 2016 edition.

“IFFS is more than just a trade event for business exchange,” said Ernie Koh, chairman of IFFS Pte Ltd. “We envision our show as a holistic platform that serves to create conversations, stimulate new ideas and foster business partnerships. Through a series of unique and inspirational feature areas, IFFS 2016 will present a whole new experience for our visitors that is in line with our recent rebrand.”

The show features more than 350 furniture manufacturers, suppliers, exporters and designers from more than 27 countries, including a number of new exhibitors from Ireland, Lebanon, Mexico and Russia.

Among the new features at the 2016 show:

An Outdoor Boulevard that clusters a group of exhibitors showcasing garden and outdoor furniture in a dedicated area. A new indoor setting known as the Garden Café will house a collection of curated products from participating exhibitors.

The Décor Show will no longer be confined to a single hall, but feature exhibitors in multiple halls. Show officials said this will “offer a seamless navigation experience that allows visitors to browse through both furniture and accompanying décor items within the same hall.”

The Design STARs collection features product introductions by 20 design talents from around the world, including France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, The Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, China, United Kingdom, and the United States. In addition, a Furniture Design Showcase featuring winning entries of the 2016 edition will also be on display.

Organized by the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), the FDA seeks design talents from all over the world to exhibit their unique creations amongst international furniture manufacturers and designers. Winners will be decided by a panel of industry experts a day before IFFS, and announced at the IFFS official Opening Ceremony. Visitors to both showcases will be able to draw inspiration from these display pieces and kindle some new ideas.

The show also will be promoting a new collaboration with HipVan, a Singapore-based online store for designer furniture, home furnishings and lifestyle products. To help tell this story, IFFS will have an online preview that showcases products from select exhibitors on HipVan’s website, allowing visitors to get a sneak peak at some of the pieces before the show opens. Pieces can also be purchased during the preview period, which runs from March 1-9.
